Overview
Master of Surgery (M.S.) in Ophthalmology deals with advanced study of the eye’s anatomy, physiology, and diseases. There are many job opportunities available for the graduates who are pursuing this role. Thispostgraduate Ophthalmology course is the branch of medicine that deals with the anatomy, physiology and diseases of the eye. An ophthalmologist is a specialist in medical and surgical eye problems. The course includes orbital and ocular anatomy, Gross anatomy, Histology, Ocular Physiology, Ocular Pathology, Biochemistry, Microbiology and Immunology with reference to ocular immunology. The course also imparts the opportunities for ophthalmologic research in clinical surgery settings like fine microsurgery, using the operating microscope, and intraocular surgery or vitreoretinal surgery of the eye.
Program Aim
- The students will be able to deliver total eye care, meaning vision services, eye examinations, medical and surgical eye care, diagnosis and treatment of disease, and visual complications that are caused by other conditions, like diabetes.
- Students will be able to start their own private clinics to give treatment based on medicines, surgery, diet, and other therapies, will therefore treat the underlying eye problem.
- The students will become Ophthalmologists and will be specially trained to provide the full spectrum of eye care, from prescribing glasses and contact lenses to complex and delicate eye surgery.

- The graduates will be Specialist Surgeon in Ophthalmology.
- They can work as Ophthalmologist, Surgeon, Professor/Lecturer, Clinical Assistant, Medical Consultant, and many more.
- The people who have completed their residency training can go on to pursue fellowship training in Ophthalmology subspecialties.
