Overview

Master of Surgery (M.S.) in Obstetrics & Gynecology is a postgraduate Obstetrics course that deals with surgical–medical specialties concerning with the female reproductive organs in their pregnant and non-pregnant state, respectively, and as such are often combined to form a single medical specialty and postgraduate training program. The programme  includes Obstetrics Pathology, Gynaecological Pathology, Operative Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Medical and Surgical Diseases, Complication in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Social Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Abnormal Pregnancies, Common Disorders and Systemic Diseases Associated with Pregnancy, Common Obstetrical Operations, Infant Care, Neonatal hygiene, Breastfeeding, Artificial feeding, Management of premature child, Asphyxia, Birth injuries, Common Disorders of New Born etc.

Program Aim

  • This programme will be able to prepare the practicing OB/GYN to be adept at the care of female reproductive organs health and management of obstetric complications, even though surgery.  
  • The program will provide adequate knowledge in clinical acumen, procedural skills and attitudes which will enable him/her to manage pregnancy and its complications, manage disorders affecting the female genital tract and problems in relation to human reproduction.  
  • The curriculum will train future leaders in Obstetrics & Gynecology, in both scientific investigation and patient care.

  1. The graduates will be Specialist Medical doctors in Obstetrics & Gynecology, Gynaecologist Physician, Obstetrician Physician, Obstetrician / Gynecologist (OB/GYN), Family Physician, Medical Officer, Hospital Registrar, Pharmaceuticals Sales Representative etc 
  2. One can also work in any private or government hospital or can opt for self-employment, start a clinic. 
  3. The course is also beneficial for further studies such as Ph.D. and will stimulate students to undertake research and evidence-based practice.
